MY STORY

Hi! I’m Ciera a 35 year old mother of 2 kids and I have recurring metastatic cervical cancer. In the last two years I have had over 65 rounds of radiation 16 doses of immunotherapy, around 20 doses of chemotherapy, multiple hospitalizations, and the only thing that had gotten me through is my husband, kids, and the support of our friends and family near and far. I wish when my treatment started I had a platform like this, we used so many places to update our friends and family on my condition and our needs and having one place would have been amazing. We used text message, GroupMe, a Facebook group, mealtrain.com, go fund me, and it was hard to keep track of making sure everyone knew what we needed and where we stood.

MY JOURNEY

December 2022

Scans showed recurrence in my abdomen. Chemotherapy and radiation resumed.
SEPTEMBER 2022

Scans showed no evidence of disease!! 3 months of relative peace.
APRIL 2022

Residual disease detected. Started combination systemic chemotherapy & immunotherapy. These caused complications that resulted in a prolonged hospitalization.
MARCH 2022

Interstitial Brachytherapy
JANUARY 2022

Port placed and started chemotherapy and radiation.
DECEMBER 2021

I got the call 2 days later and immediately was seen by my GYN oncologist. After staging scans I was diagnosed with stage 3C2 squamous cell carcinoma.
NOVEMBER 2021

I had surgery Nov 30th 2021. When I woke up in my room my GYN was sitting by my bed to tell me that she was fairly sure I had cancer based on the look of my tissues but we would know more when pathology arrived in 2-3 days.
SEPTEMBER 2021

Ultrasound showed cysts and some pelvic floor damage from my two large babies. Diagnosed with uterine prolapse and scheduled for a hysterectomy.
AUGUST 2021

I experienced heavy bleeding, clotting, and crippling lower back pain. I went to my doctor to discuss a hysterectomy because I was done having children and exhausted from blood loss and lack of sleep. I was referred to an OB-GYN.
FEBRUARY 2021

I started experiencing irregular bleeding outside of my period.
